Covered Wagon RV Park

From the apartment-filled Glendale neighborhood, you’d never guess an RV park was waiting for you in downtown Phoenix. It’s rated as one of the best RV parks in Phoenix, as it offers access to many Phoenix attractions.

This RV park promises a long list of amenities, from Wi-Fi to a swimming pool and plenty of shady areas to relax in (a real treat in Arizona). Did we mention this park is dog-friendly?

Other amenities include showers, a laundry facility, vending machines, hookups, and a welcoming staff that will happily answer your questions.

This is a great RV park to stay at if you love sports. Covered Wagon RV Park is near the Cardinals Stadium so that you can catch a football game between lounging at the pool.

It also offers easy access to multiple shopping centers, including a historic district filled with cool antiques.

Desert’s Edge RV – Purple Park

The Desert’s Edge RV Purple Park is a large RV park near Phoenix Deer Valley Airport with a retro-style appeal. It’s recently renovated so that you can travel to this park without worrying about broken laundry machines or faulty amp hookups.

This park has over 200 RV sites and can accommodate smaller and larger vehicles, though you’ll need to provide the staff with advanced notice if your RV is on the larger side.

While the first RV park was dog-friendly, Desert’s Edge goes above and beyond with a grooming station, multiple dog parks, and a dog run.

There’s also a heated pool, hot tub, and barbeque areas for you to enjoy. This family-friendly RV park has been rated one of the best RV parks in Phoenix (and the country). You can catch the PGA Tour’s Waste Management Open nearby if you arrive in February.

Pleasant Harbor RV

You can find this RV park in Peoria, AZ, nestled up to the Waddell Canyon on Lake Pleasant. Pleasant Harbor RV is one of the highly-rated RV campsites in Phoenix.

With stunning water views nearby and access to boat rentals, Pleasant Harbor is one of the best RV parks in Phoenix.

Pioneer RV Resort

Pioneer RV Resort is a campsite that caters to those who are 55 and older. While those under 55 can camp at the resort, it’s required that at least one person in your group is at least 55 years old.

This RV camping park is off of I-17 S and can be found nearby the Pioneer Arizona Living History Museum.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy while in the park, including bocce ball, an indoor swimming pool, horseshoe courts, and pickleball courts. There’s even a general store onsite if you need to purchase drinks or snacks.

It’s about a 35-minute drive from the RV park to downtown Phoenix, so it’s fairly close to additional local attractions like art galleries, casinos, a golf course, and sporting events.

Paradise RV Resort

The Paradise RV Resort is another top-rated RV park in the area geared toward those over 55 years old. Found in Sun City, near the Agua Friar River.

This RV resort offers a tranquil paradise for travelers filled with a whopping 950 campsites to spend the night at.

This RV resort is so pleasant that you may never want to leave! This is likely why most campers here are staying long-term.

There’s a whole section for pools and spas featuring a pretty water fountain area to enjoy. You’ll find any amenity you can think of here, from pickleball courts to a library, restaurant, billiards room, etc.

If you choose to leave Paradise RV Park for other attractions, there are wildlife farms and national parks nearby that you can explore via safari.

This RV resort is also located nearby major stores like CVS and Costco. With plenty of restaurant options to choose from and friendly staff, you’ll love staying at the Paradise RV Resort.

Black Canyon Campground

The relaxing Black Canyon Campground has been in business for 45 years, offering a pleasant place for you to park your RV or stay in a cabin.

This campground is right off of I-17 in Black Canyon City. This site has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, from propane tanks available for purchase to a convenience store, pool, and dog park.

Opt for an RV space that’s full service for Wi-Fi, tv, electricity, and water/sewer hookups, or rough it in a tent at one of the seasonal tent campsites.

You may even meet some new friends while staying here, as the other campsite renters are noted as being incredibly friendly.

This campground has incredible views of the local flora and fauna in a desert landscape. You’ll be about a 15-minute drive from the nearby attractions in Black Canyon City.

Make sure to stop at Arizona Native Gift Shop for some stunning jewelry. If you have some extra time, go to Sunset Point Rest to see the sun descending over the Arizona landscape in the evening.

If you don’t mind a 45-minute drive, take Black Canyon Hwy, Phoenix-bound, for additional activities.

Leaf Verde RV Resort

Leaf Verde RV Resort is located right on the western edge of Phoenix. This RV park is situated near Palo Verde and Avondale.

You’ll have views of the nearby mountains and some of the prettiest cotton candy-colored sunsets over the park from this park.

This family-friendly campsite has pull-through and back-in parking spots options available, so it’s easier for you to park.

As a note, there’s a $30 holding fee if you want to reserve a specific spot ahead of time.

Other amenities include showers, restrooms, a heated pool, a game room, and Wi-Fi. The Phoenix Zoo and Desert Botanical Garden are nearby this RV resort. These make excellent activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Desert Sands RV Park

This is one of the best year-round Phoenix RV parks, with a clean campground and an affordable overnight fee. Deserts Sands RV Park is another excellent spot to enjoy green spaces without traveling outside Phoenix.

This RV park is well-known for its calm, quiet atmosphere, so you can get a good night’s sleep whenever you stay. If you decide to spend a few hours hanging out at the park, there’s a swimming pool and BBQ area to enjoy.

Otherwise, it’s a great campground to access the nearby hiking trails and lake. There are a good number of restaurants nearby the RV park. If the kids get too bored, you can take them to Hurrican Harbor Phoenix to enjoy the waterslides and rides.

Desert Shadows RV Resort

The Desert Shadows RV Resort is located in north Phoenix, off of I-17. It has a fairly large number of lots available, around 630 spaces with a concrete patio. It’s perfect for shorter stays and long-term stays.

Each parking spot comes equipped with a paved porch to relax outside your RV. A long list of amenities is available at this RV resort, including free coffee and tea in the lobby.

There’s a putting green for you to hit a few golf balls, art classes, horseshoes, and shuffleboard courts.

After catching a live music concert at the resort, you can head to nearby Phoenix attractions like the many golf courses surrounding the park.

With many grocery stores nearby Desert Shadows park and a peaceful environment, you may want to spend your whole trip at the resort.

Estrella Mountain Regional Park

This RV park is southwest of Phoenix and boasts majestic mountains accented by wetlands and desert landscapes. Estrella Mountain Regional Park is an ideal location if you love hiking and being outside in nature.

It’s the perfect spot to bring your family, with plenty of picnic tables and fire pits. There are also clean restrooms, showers, electric/water hookups, and dump stations. You can swim, scuba dive, horseback ride, and mountain bike through the park.

You’ll want to bring hiking boots if you’re planning on staying in this park because of the rocky terrain and dust.

Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort

Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort is a lovely location filled with orange and lemon trees.

This resort is found just northeast of Phoenix and is ideal for those who are active and over 55 years old. You can choose between renting an RV campsite or a vacation rental while staying at this resort.

There’s quite a lot to do at Pueblo El Mirage, so you may have trouble narrowing down your activities!

You can choose from golfing on an 18-course hole, pickleball, lawn bowling, workshops, etc. You don’t even need to leave this site to get your hair done – there’s a salon onsite.

Nearby the resort, you’ll find outdoor activities like stand-up paddleboarding and hiking. You can visit museums, go shopping, and head to a stadium to catch a few football games.

Destiny RV Resort

You’ll have fun at this quirky Old West-inspired RV resort. This resort is distinguishable by the old covered wagon sitting right outside the registration and store building. Destiny RV Resort is located in Goodyear, Arizona, near where Interstate 10 and route 303 converge.

Once inside this resort, you’ll have access to a fitness center, a pet area, billiard room, pool, and even a pickleball court.

The resort is a gated community, so you’ll feel safe overnight and while exploring the community offerings. There’s a small convenience store that you can peruse as well.

This RV resort is a few minutes away (by car) from NASCAR, peaceful spas, and some of the best dining options in the area.

Desert Vista RV Resort

Found in Salome, Arizona, the Desert Vista RV Resort is a smaller, more intimate RV community.

This KOA campground in Southwest Arizona is near Alamo State Park and the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. It’s a great spot to stay if you plan to spend most of your time in nature.

If you have a quad, you can explore the 330 miles of trails near the resort, leading to ancient gold mines and other cool historical attractions.

After spending the day hiking, head to the hot tub for a luxurious soak at the resort. Other amenities include a mini-golf course, laundry machines, a clubhouse, and Wi-Fi.

Sonoran Desert RV Park

We’ve noted this RV Park as one of the top options! It’s the only park crafted by RVers, so the amenities are ideal here. You’ll be delighted by the spacious parking spots that are big rig friendly.

The Sonoran Desert RV Park is in Gila Bend, southwest of Phoenix, off of I-8 and AZ 85. Onsite, you can swim in the heated pool.

If you’re planning on bringing your dog, you’ll be happy to note that there are multiple dog corrals for pups to run around.

There’s even a requirement for quiet after 10 pm, so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to explore Phoenix each day that you stay.

Spending the night (or a few nights) at this RV park puts you close to multiple outdoor attractions like the Painted Rock Petroglyph Site and the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.

Rock Shadows RV Resort

Last but not least is the Rock Shadows RV Resort. This 55+ RV park has options for staying a day, month, season, or full year. It has some of the best scenery, nestled against the Superstition Mountains.

As far as RV parks in Phoenix, this option has some of the best amenities. You can spend a few hours at the driving range, challenge your neighbors to a game on the pickleball court, or head to the lapidary shop to see stunning gemstones and crystals.

There’s even a full-service postal office onsite! Of course, this resort also offers basic amenities like showers, bathrooms, and the option of 30- or 50-amp service.

Apache Junction has some of the best golf courses around. If golf’s not for you, there are casinos and plenty of hiking trails nearby.
